Background:
Considering Hikeden already posted a detailed review of Kalavantin Durg peak, Hikeden is just giving brief introduction of Prabalgarh fort which is essentially the same mountain range and about half of the trekking route is also the same. Prabalgad Fort is located between Matheran and Panvel in the Indian state of Maharashtra, at an elevation of 2300 feet in the Western Ghats. It was built on a plateau very close to Matheran, but unlike Matheran it does not have a good source of water hence not converted into a hill station by the British. It was known as Muranjan until it was taken over and renamed by the Maratha forces under Shivaji's rule.
Team: Anik & Anuj

Experience:
Time: 5.30 am - Team left for the Trek from Andheri (Marol). From there, they went to the old Mumbai Pune National Highway via the above mentioned route. (Note: Instead of taking the Old Highway its better to take the Mumbai Pune Expressway and take the exit for Shedung. After the Shedung exit you will get a toll booth. After that you will come on the Old highway and immediately on the corner of the road is a left turn for Shedung Village.)

Time: 7 am - They reached the junction on the old Mumbai Pune National Highway from where team takes a left for Shedung Village which takes you to Thakurwadi village (about 5-7 kms from the left turn of Shedung village). This is the place from where the Trek starts. At 6 am, they reached the starting point. (Note: After taking the left for Shedung village towards Thakurvadi village keep asking the locals for directions to Thakurwadi village/Prabalgarh Fort. And just before the Thakurvadi village starts there is a left turn that will take you to the starting point.)

Time: 7:15 am - Team parked their Bike & were all geared up for the trek. A little father from this place the trek starts. Its a pretty easy one in the beginning but goes on to become a little difficult as you go further. We reached the hotel, where there are few teams which camp. Then came the villages and then the route splits into Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgarh. Team lost their way 2-3 times on the trek which means unless you are the adventurous type its advisable to take local guy along as guide. There will be many times when one may lose their way.

HIKEDEN advises that in any Trek where visitors are regular, if you find big spiders webs, understand, it is probably the wrong route. It is because spiders web take many days to make, so there are many webs proably no one has passed through that.
Time: 11:30 am - As team had gone on many wrong routes, they reached late at around 11:30 am. When one reaches on top, there is a map which is in a poor state. One cannot understand much from that. If you are facing that Map, then on right you can keep on going but you will not find anything except trees and bushes. One has to go on left and keep on going. One might feel, it is a wrong way as some dense jungles come (there are monkeys and some snakes might occasionally come), but it is correct. After half and hour, one reaches the end of the plateau from where Kalavantin Durg is visible. Its a beautiful sight. You can catch some amazing photos of Kalavantin Durg from this place.

Hikeden Advises: Carry something to eat and Drink as nothing is available there. Team saw a couple of guys had come prepared with some stuff to make tea and Maggi (Team got inspired to do this from the next trek).

Time: 1 pm - Team decided to go down and finally reached down to the starting point at around 2:30 pm. Prabalgarh is a nice trek especially in monsoons but it is advise, dont be in a hurry to go down. Start early and try to explore the place till 5 pm. One can carry some sheets and relax at some cozy place. All in all its a long trek with medium difficulty level but its beautiful and scenic.
