SANDHAN Valley which is also known as the valley of shadows and surprises is a beautiful place situated in the Western Ghats. The water carved valley is approx. 200ft deep & 1.5km long. The heart throbbing experience of crossing 4 to 5 ft deep water pool, bouldering among the huge rocks, witnessing the rarest beauty of nature which will give you a unique experience along with combination of adventures like rappelling, trekking & night camping near the blue lagoon Pond.

Road Ways to reach (Private Vehicle): 
From Mumbai(via Mumbai- Nasik Highway) – Ghoti – Shendi – Samrad
From Pune – Sangamner – Akola – Ratanwadi – Samrad
Ways to reach (Public Transport) :(From Mumbai) Board a local for Kasara Rly stn.
State Transport Bus From Kasara for Samrad. (Its more advisable to hire a Jeep from Kasara to Samrad and back)

Trek Routes : 
1.Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Samrad Village
2.Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Dehne Village
3. Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Karoli Ghat – Samrad Village

Trek Route Wise Description
1. Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Samrad Village

a. Duration : One Day Trek
b. Grade : Medium and Thrilling
c. Category : Trek
d. Coordinates of the Start point of the Valley : Lat – 19.518966 &
Long – 73.686412
e. Time Duration: Appx 4-6hrs (Ascent + Descent) Depending on 
individual speed and conditions.
f. Recommended Start Time of the Trek : Early Morning - At least before 1200hrs
g. Turn-Around Point : Before first Rappelling patch of 50- 60fts (One Day Trek Ends Here)
h. Recommended Turn-Around Time : 1530 hrs (One must keep minimum 3 hrs buffer time to make it back to the village before it gets dark in the valley)
i. Return Journey : You must make provisions for the return journey before you commence our Trek (Opt for the same Jeep or contact the local to arrange for a Jeep)

Description of the Trail (Route A):
Once you reach Samrad and done with your breakfast, you can visit the Replica of Konkankada and then turn back and proceed further for Sandhan Valley. Once you reach the mouth of the valley it would take you 10 -15 minutes to reach the Water cisterns which you must cross to proceed further. Post monsoon the water level in the first pond is between 3 to 4 fts and second pond with neck deep water level which eventually dries up in consecutive months. After crossing the second pond proceed further for 2 hrs which will take you to the First 50 to 60 fts Rappelling point and this point would be your Turn around point and follow the same route back towards Samrad Village.

2. Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Dehne Village

a. Duration : 2 days (Over Night Camping)
b. Grade : Medium and Thrilling
c. Category : Full Descend Trekking & Rappelling
d. Coordinates of the Start point of the Valley : Lat – 19.518966 & 
Long – 73.686412
e. Coordinates of Dehne Village : Lat – 19.478019 & Long – 
73.64886
f. Recommended Start Time of the Trek : At least before 0700 hrs.
g. Recommended Time to Reach base Camp : Before 1800 hrs 
(You need to make your arrangements for food and Camping)
h. Return Journey : ST Bus From Dehne Village @ 2 pm
i. Equipment’s required :
a. One 30 meter rope – For Rappelling
b. One 30 meter rope – For belaying
c. Minimum 5 set of Carabiners
d. Minimum 3 set of ATC or Figure 8
e. Harness & Helmet
f. Torch and lamps for Night Stay

Description of the Trail (Route B):
Visiting of the Konkankada is optional depending upon the luxury of time available with you. The trail explained above in (Route A) is the same till the First Rappelling point, post which you will have to setup an anchor point to rappel down 50 to 60 ft rappelling patch. Bolts are available of the extreme right side of Valley. You are advised to kindly inspect the anchor point before you start your rappelling. Once you descend from the rappelling patch go from the right side which will immediately take you through a Chimney. Proceed further to encounter huge boulders which have to be descended with extreme caution. At one point you will reach to a dead end where you have to enter and crawl through a small crevasse which will immediately lead you to a patch where you will have to use a rope to descend further. 10 mins from there will take you down to the last patch of the valley which again has to be cautiously descended using a rope. Once you are done with the last patch, within 30 mins you will reach to a flat surface near the pond which is a suitable place for overnight camping. Next day you can continue on the same trail through the river bed and the pond on you right side. Continue on the trial through the river till you spot a walk able trail going through the left side of the river bed. Continue on the trial through vegetation and fields for 2 hrs till you find a tar road where you can spot a bridge. Cross the bridge and go further to towards Dehne village which is visible from this point.
Once you reach the village get some rest and lunch if time permits you and waiting for the ST which is at 1400 hrs which will take you to Shahapur ST Stand. From Shahapur ST Stand you will easy get a share rishshaw for Asangaon Railway Station which is hardly 10 mins drive from there.

3. Samrad Village - Sandhan Valley – Karoli Ghat – Samrad Village

a. Duration : 2 days (Over Night Camping)
b. Grade : Medium++ and Thrilling
c. Category : First day - Full Descend Trekking & Rappelling and 
Second Day Full Ascend via Karolighat
d. Coordinates of the Start point of the Valley : Lat – 19.518966 & 
Long – 73.686412
e. Coordinates of the right turn for Karolighat : Lat – 19.505474 & 
Llong – 73.679301
f. Recommended Start Time of the Trek : At least before 0700 hrs.
g. Recommended Time to Reach base Camp : Before 1800 hrs 
(You need to make your arrangements for food and Camping)
h. Return Journey : You must make provisions for the return 
journey before you commence your Trek (Opt for the same 
Jeep or contact the local to arrange for a Jeep)
i. Equipment’s required :

Description of the Trail:
The trail explained above in (Route B) is the same till the base camp near the pond. Continue further for 15 mins on the same trail where you can find the pond meets the river bed. It is where at this point you will have to leave the river bed and start climbing the hill towards your right hand side. You can easily spot the replica of the kokankada once you start your bearing towards this trail. It would approximately take you 3 to 4 hrs to reach Samrad Village. Post climbing 2 rock patches you would reach Samrad Plateau from where it would take your nearly 15 to 20 mins to Samrad Village.

Important points to be remembered during all the above routes 
1. Do this trek with a registered Trekking organization or hire a local Guide from Samrad Village only.
2. During Summer Water is not available along the trail, hence carry sufficient water even on the second day while marching out from the base camp.
3. Entering the valley during Monsoon Season can be extremely dangerous and hence is not recommended.
4. You are advised to be cautious of small falling rocks and monkeys. 
5. Do not trek in floaters or slippers since the route is challenging
6. Carry first Aid Along.
7. Do not compromise of Safety at any cost.
